Biography

LAURA FEARN

Tel: 07594 302216

I graduated from The University of Brighton in 1996 with a BA (Hons) Graphic Design (Illustration). After a course in Desk Top Publishing in Bristol I started work at Usborne Publishing in Wolverhampton. I moved to their London office in 1998 and worked in-house as Senior Designer until 2005.

I am currently working on a series of paintings of my home town of Cirencester using pen & ink and watercolour. I try to capture the hustle and bustle of the busy streets, the higgledy piggledy nature of the buildings and the life of the place. I love to use bright colours and particularly love to capture strong sunlight and shadows when I can. I draw in the cars, street signs, scaffolding and other signs of modern life as I like to capture a moment in time. I paint in situ so during the summer months you might find me sitting outside about town. During the autumn and winter you might see me sitting in the window of a cafe or shop where people very kindly allow me to work.

I also paint and draw portraits, the paintings are large and executed in oil on paper, the drawings are pencil on A3 paper. I specialised in figure and portrait painting during my final year at University, I took it up again with the birth of my first child and it has taken off from there.

I am always delighted to take on commissions, so do contact me via the link at the top of the page if you would like me to paint (amongst others) your house, business, wedding venue, child or baby.

I am able to offer professional freelance design and illustration services drawing on a wealth of experience and knowledge.

I am now running Adobe InDesign CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Adobe Illustrator CS5 I am also able to provide files in Quark Xpress 5 if required. I produce page layouts, cover designs, style set books and series of books, preparing publications for production, carrying out picture research, commissioning illustrators and photographers and manage teams of designers.
